It is based on the idea that Tata helps out in his family business, which he
has the power to enlarge his family business into a kingdom. So the space is mainly
constructed based on putting blocks together. The long extends paths to the
elevator symbolises how his power of redevelopment will still continue in the future.
The office consists of 2 levels, which the lower floor is for his employees; the upper
level is featured to be Tata’s private office. The glass surface walkway can be
used for management on workers.
Elevator 1: it is constructed to enter from the back of the lift, which it gives a space
for Tata to think about any development plan before meeting Carlos Slim. By
allowing more light to come into the exit, it is to convey the message that the lift
symbolises the passage between Tata’s power to make redevelopment and
the “partnership” between Slim.
The meeting space
The meeting space provides the place for the two clients to have their lunch.
The power of development and the power of monopoly, seems that they both
will not be have a agreement, the space is then divided into 2 parts. Monopoly
gives people a more powerful image that sometimes they might be having a
strong background; therefore the side for monopoly is hidden in shading.
Dining table
The dining table is designed in the way that I think the two clients will stay with their own ideas in the meeting. So above the tabletop surface, it is a well-organised lunch, but the legs of the table are set in the middle to separate Tata and Carlos Slim. The strips of block on the side represent the redevelopment of things, and the board on the other side represent how Slim is a hidden monopoly.
Space 2 – monopoly, Carlos Slim
This space featured a larger area over Tata’s office. This is because monopoly seems to give us a sense that is more powerful. Also, he is said to be a rich guy that can be hidden from the world; which not many people know how rich he is. So the office consists of a high wall that protects his empire, and also his office is constructed with L shapes bounding together; which provides a private empire away from the public.
The 2nd level of the office is left for Slim, where this can only be accessed by Slim through using the elevator.
Elevator 2: it is bounded by 2 main “L” shapes; they represent the properties that he owns, which are surrounding him like an empire, and the elevator follows the path of the glass tunnel, which it provides perfect view on the environment, and to emphasis the prestige position as being a monopoly in Brazil.
